Arogya Mitras Will Serve As The Backbone Of Ayushman Bharat Scheme

To favour smooth functioning of the world’s largest public health insurance, Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna (AB-PMJAY), more than 6000 people will act as facilitators in empanelled hospitals across 31 states and union territories, said sources. AB-PMJAY was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday.

In order to train Arogya Mitras to run Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna (AB-PMJAY) smoothly, various skill development centres and Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra have been utilized by the National Skill Development Corporation.

As per the sources, the government is targeting to have 100,000 arogya mitras by the end of this year. With at least one arogya mitra located at each empanelled public and private hospital in order to provide support in beneficiary verification, authentication, query management, grievance redressal and handling emergency cases.
