As it prepares for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party has asked all its Members of Parliament to provide the details of their performance over the past five years. “It’s a simple instruction. They have to provide a detailed account of the works done in their capacity as Parliamentarians,” a source told DNA. Instructions to this effect were issued to the MPs during the recently concluded Parliament session.

The information has to be uploaded online as well as sent to the Prime Minister’s Office on mail by February 20. Other than sharing the data with the public, the party leadership will use it as a parameter in deciding on fielding the MPs again, said the source. “The MPs will have to outline and describe the works they have recommended and carried out in their areas. They are also required to provide details about how effectively they raised issues and problems,” the source added. They would also have to give details about the private Bills that they presented.
