There is No Proposal to Cut Subsidy on LPG: Dharmendra Pradhan

Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan has said, there is no proposal to cut subsidy on LPG but if rich people decide to leave their subsidy themselves then it will be easy for the government to give subsidy to the poor on LPG. Mr Pradhan said this after distributing letter of intent to the new distributers of Public sector oil companies in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh today.

The Minister also said, to support sugar cane farmers and in a process to double their income, government will now buy ethanol at the rate of 40 rupees per litre. He said, plan to procure petrol from Bio waste and from the waste of sugar cane are also in the pipeline. On the occasion, Mr Pradhan also honoured the Nodal Officers of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjawala Yojna who played a vital role in the ground level implementation of the programme. He said, in just 13 months from the launch of the scheme in Uttar Pradesh, 62 lakh new connections were given to the poor people.
