Highlights of PM Modi’s Visit to Pune

The Prime Minister will flag off the metro train at the inauguration of services on the completed sections of two corridors of the first phase of the Pune Metro, the PMO said. These sections range from Phugewadi station to civil court station and from Garware College station to Ruby Hall Clinic station. Pm Modi had also laid the foundation stone of this project in 2016. The new sections will connect important places in Pune city such as Shivaji Nagar, Civil Court, Pune Municipal Corporation office, Pune RTO and Pune railway station. The PMO said the inauguration is an important step towards fulfilling the Prime Minister’s vision of providing modern and environment-friendly urban transportation systems to citizens across the country.

The design of some metro stations on its route is inspired by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The design of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Udyan metro station and Deccan Gymkhana metro station is similar to the turban worn by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s soldiers, also known as ‘Mawla turban’. The Shivaji Nagar Underground Metro Station has a special design reminiscent of the forts built by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the PMO said.

During this time, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate the waste use power plant under the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC). Developed at a cost of around Rs 300 crore, the power plant will use around 2.5 lakh metric tonnes of waste annually to produce electricity.

The Prime Minister will hand over over 1,280 houses constructed by PCMC under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana on the occasion . He will also hand over over 2,650 PMAY houses built by the Pune Municipal Corporation. Besides, the Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for around 1,190 PMAY houses to be constructed by the PCMC and over 6,400 houses constructed by the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority .

PM Modi will be honored with this award

The Prime Minister will be honoured with the Lokmanya Tilak National Award during the visit. The award was instituted by the Tilak Smarak Mandir Trust in 1983 to honour the legacy of Lokmanya Tilak. The PMO said the award is given to those who have worked for the progress and development of the nation and whose contribution can only be seen as remarkable and extraordinary.
