Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has assured Mauritius of India’s continued support in meeting the island nation’s energy requirement and helping develop it into a regional petroleum hub.

Pradhan met Shokutally Soodhun, Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Housing and Lands of Mauritius, on Tuesday in New Delhi. Soodhun is on a three day visit to India for the meeting of the Joint Committee on Hydrography and to further strengthen India-Mauritius bilateral maritime cooperation.

As an oil minister, Pradhan has worked on forging stronger ties with neighbouring countries. His efforts have resulted in more business opportunities for Indian state oil firms while fulfilling the energy needs of the neighbouring markets. State firms are now planning to sell more fuel, and help build refineries and liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in neighbouring countries.
