Assam CM Urges Pradhan To Develop Hydrocarbon Potential

Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Thursday met union petroleum & natural gas minister Dharmendra Pradhan in New Delhi, reports Northeast Now news. Sonowal held discussions on leveraging the hydrocarbon potential of Assam to develop the state as a promising hydrocarbon hub. Sonowal, while appreciating the union government’s initiatives in developing the oil and gas infrastructure in Assam, stressed on speedy implementation of the new projects in the hydrocarbon sector in the state.

He also highlighted issues such as expansion of Numaligarh Refinery, implementation of bio-refinery at Numaligarh, North East Gas Grid and Barauni-Guwahati Natural Gas Pipeline during the discussion. Sonowal said timely completion of the projects would significantly boost economic growth in the state and generate better employment opportunities in the oil and gas sector in the region. He also congratulated the union minister and conveyed best wishes for his new tenure. The union minister assured the Assam chief minister all support on behalf of the Government of India in developing the oil and gas infrastructure in Assam.
