Counting of votes on 10 Assembly seats in separate states which went to polls on May 28 is underway. With the Lok Sabha elections nearly 12 months away, the results of Assembly bypolls are being observed closely by the political parties involved and people in general.

The ten Assembly seats where bypolls were held are: are Jokihat (Bihar), Gomia and Silli (Jharkhand), Chengannur (Kerala), Ampati (Meghalaya), Shakot (Punjab), Tharali (Uttarakhand),Noorpur (Uttar Pradesh), Palus-Kadegaon (Maharashtra) and Mahestala (West Bengal). While the BJP would like to win as many seats as it could to prepare a ground for the next year’s Lok Sabha polls, the Opposition, on the other hand, is hoping of a strong show to dent the saffron party.
