Delhi Government Extends Power Subsidy Scheme

The state government approved the extension of existing subsidy on electricity bills for consumers. “The government has extended zero power bill scheme for consumers consuming up to 200 units of electricity every month, irrespective of their approved load, from April 2020 to March 2021. Apart from this, a subsidy of Rs 800 is given for consumers using 201 to 400 units of monthly electricity,” an official said, adding that 90 per cent of households in Delhi are getting the benefit of subsidy on electricity.

In the order released on Monday, the government also extended the 100% subsidy to the victims of 1984 riots for power consumption up to 400 units. This special electricity subsidy scheme has also been extended to the lawyers’ chambers within the court premises. Similarly, all the agricultural consumers will continue to enjoy subsidy in the fixed charges for agricultural connection at the rate of Rs 105 per kWh.
