HPCL Visakh Refinery distributes scholarships

The Visakh Refinery of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, distributed scholarships worth Rs 3 crore to 5,231 students of SC/ST/OBC/ PWD (Persons with Disabilities) categories belonging to 16 government colleges in the district.

This was the highest amount allocated by the Visakh Refinery towards payment of scholarships compared to any other PSU and the scholarships distribution function was attended by Collector Pravin Kumar and Director-Refineries Vinod  S  Shenoy on Tuesday. Addressing the students and parents, the Collector appreciating the refinery gesture, advised to dream big and have persistent efforts to achieve the goal and to utilise the scholarship amount to pursue higher education.

Shenoy explained the CSR activities of the HPCL, and said they were giving scholarships to weaker sections consistently for the past few years. Visakh Refinery Executive Director G S V S S S Prasad Sarma welcomed the gathering.  Executive Director (Finance) Sonal  Desai, General Managers B Balagangadharam, P Veerabhadra Rao, V Ratanraj,  N Ramachandran,   GM (I/C , VRMP)  A S V Ramanan, DGM (I/C) HR Narisetty Raja Rao, DGM (CSR) Zakir H Molla, Senior Manager (PR) U S Sarma, Manager (OL) Dr T Mahadev Rao,  Chief Liaison Officer Roselina and trade union leaders were present.
