India’s three oil marketing companies (OMCs) have invited applications for setting up fuel retail outlets at 23,946 locations in Rajashtan, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Chhattisgarh and Mizoram.

Invitation for applications in these states had missed an earlier expansion round due to state elections. The last date for submission of applications is 12 January. The companies have offered 9,647 retail outlet dealerships in Rajasthan, 7,318 dealerships in Madhya Pradesh, 3,507 in Telangana, 3,347 in Chhattisgarh and 127 in Mizoram.

In a bid to cement their market leadership and expand their footprint in other geographical areas of the country, the oil firms had in November 2018 invited applications for setting up 55,649 retail outlets in 30 states and Union Territories. Of this, 26,982 dealerships were offered by Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), 15,802 dealerships by Bharat Petroleum (BPCL) and 12,865 offered by Hindustan Petroleum (HPCL).
The last date of submitting applications for the 30 states and Union Territories ended on 24 December 2018.
