A team of a private company hired by ONGC to find the possibilities of petroleum products did not find anything in the villages near Machiwara, although an official of ONGC termed it a primary survey and said they were now inspecting the sites near Rahon and Nawanshahr. A team carrying borewell equipment camped near Jharoudi, Lakhowal and Ratipur village and dug up bores at several places to find traces of petroleum, however nothing was found and the team left for the next place. Avdesh Dubey, a senior official of the company confirmed the digging and said they had started digging from Panipat in Haryana and this primary survey will continue in other areas as well.

The statelite survey of the area is being carried out and ONGC has forwarded the work to a private company named Alfa GEO. Bhupinder Singh, who was with team said this was a 2-D project of survey and they will send their technical reports to Haydrabad Research Center for further investigation. Dubey said that this was a primary survey and they could say anything only after finalising all research reports.
