BJP president Amit Shah is said to have told party’s Maharashtra functionaries that they should be prepared for the possibility of contesting the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections without any alliance. Shah was speaking to BJP leaders at a closed-door meeting in Mumbai .  Shah told state’s BJP leaders that the party should begin work on all 48 Lok Sabha seats and 288 legislative Assembly seats in Maharashtra, said sources in the BJP.

They said Shah told the leaders that party workers should work hard to build networks in all constituencies in such a manner that even if the Shiv Sena (BJP’s current ally in the state), the Congress and the NCP contested the polls together, the BJP should still be able to win. They said that Shah asked that at least 25 party workers should be deployed in each booth to interact with voters. These workers should meet local people inform them about the government’s schemes such as employment generation through the MUDRA Yojana.
